In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the community and the cause of education in Malaysia, Sunway Group Founder and Chairman Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah was conferred an Honorary Doctorate of Education by University of Malaya (UM) at the university’s convocation ceremony in October 2016.

This is the 10th honorary doctorate conferred to Cheah, who has been recognised by universities in Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Cheah is also the founding trustee of the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation (JCF) – the country’s largest education-focused social enterprise that advances his philanthropic efforts.

UM Vice-Chancellor Tan Sri Professor Dr Mohd Amin Jalaludin paid tribute to Cheah for changing the landscape of education and spearheading strategic partnerships with world-class institutions, which sets new standards in teaching and research.
